Here are a few tips for you guys so you know what to expect and plan for.
Just to help you prepare a little I do the newborn lifestyle sessions usually in the main living area, master bedroom (the bed is a good spot to get all cuddled up, and get a few of the baby on their own) and then some in the nursery. If it’s cold out, it's best to keep the house warmer then normal as babies seem to do better in VERY warm spaces for photos. And if it’s hot out it’s best to turn the air down a little to keep the house a litter warmer.
As for outfits, it's best to keep it simple with neutral colors for everyone. Some texture and layers even are great. (See photos above for examples) Baby in simple onesie or some other type that's simple and fun (newborn gowns or simple one piece outfit ), and some simple swaddle blankets. If you have a special outfit you want the baby in for a few shots I am more then happy, but too much changing usually doesn't go over well with babies! And if you are have a girl and love the look of bows it good to have a few out to grab when needed.
It's best if you can feed baby right before I arrive and clean diaper, so hopefully they will be sleepy and restful. And then you can have baby in the onesie or swaddled up in a blanket you love if baby likes that! But I have been around a lot of babies so I understand if none of that works out, also during the session if baby needs a break to feed that's OKAY we will roll with it all to make baby happiest! We have lots of time, I don’t want you to feel stressed about that!
We will focus mostly you guys holding the baby. But if baby is happy I will do a few with just baby laying on the bed or in crib.
And if you have other children we of course will add them into the mix and do some with them and baby also!
