What to wear

Helpful tips to figuring out what to wear for a session

Most people say the hardest part of getting photos done is trying to figure out what to wear. (especially for family sessions) So here are some helpful tips to make it easier and hopefully fun for you to figure out.

For a Family Sessions, think coordinating, not matchy. You should choose similar shades in the same color family, or you can even choose colors that go together that are in different color families. You just don't want the entire family to look like clones of each other.

Tip: try not to have everyone in the same color or two colors. If two people have the same colors on try to make the texture different.

Try and coordinate the feel of the session (formal, casual, ect...) but each member of the family should dress according to their own personal style. Everyone will feel happier if they are comfortable with what they are wearing.

Tip: Moms if you have a fancy dress you LOVE, wear it!

Most importantly make sure to wear something that you LOVE and feel good in! Now is the perfect time to pull out that special dress, a cute accessory, or a pair of shoes that you have been saving to wear, but never had the chance to. Just remember, if you can't move in your outfit, walk in your shoes, or just feel self-conscious, it will show in your images...and you probably will not be happy with them.

A few other helpful tips:

-Avoid Large logos on outfits.

-Add in layers. Layering is a great way to bring in other colors, patterns and fabrics.

-Think about the different textures in the clothes. A mix of sweater material with cotton or silky fabric really adds a lot of dimension. This will also help things not look so matchy matchy when staying in the same color family.

-Stay away from any neon colors. This includes neon colors in shoes.
